SLK55 Feedback Much Appreciated.
Hello guys. I will be starting a search for one of these cars (2006'ish) as a present for my dad who will retire within the next 3 to 6 months.
He liked the 32's but I perceive that the 55's are better performers and they have that nasty AMG V-8 sound.
How are these cars aging so far? Anything to look for when buying a used car? I would like to find him a clean, non-modified example, hopefully with around 30k miles on it, or less.

SLK55 AMG - Caspian Blue
I have a 2006 as well. Have had it 2 years and love every minute I get to drive it.40K miles on it right now and minimal issues. Lots of power and the best sounding car I have ever owned. With the hardtop, you truly get the coupe feel when it is up but with the convertible freedom when you put it down. Great car.

Had my SLK55 for about 6 years now. No problems whatsoever when I drive it. I'm at 23,000 miles only. The original tires lasted approximately 18,000 miles which (I'm told) is very good.
Only thing I have a problem with is not being able to drive it as much. I bought it with 9,000 miles on it.
When looking for a car, make sure the service records are there and up-to-date, kinda like you would with any other car. Make sure everything works, top opens and closes with no problems, etc....
Hope this helps!!!

i bought my 2005 about a month ago with 40k on the clock. i love the car.
there were some minor things that need to be repaired to make my car perfect.. carmax is doing it for free...
drivers seat heater base non-op
infrared sensor in drivers door handle for remote top operation was non-op
daylight sensor for auto headlights/head unit was non-op
also check your seals for the roof to make sure theyre not dry... you dont want any leaks when it rains.
my car was a 2005 and i would consider these pretty minor when getting a used car.. but theyre fixing them for free.. cant complain.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I really miss mine. Working at ExoticMotors I have driven many cars, and there is very few that can match the SLK55's fun factor in this price range. I know we are getting 2 in this week and I'm thinking I might trade in the Range for one of them!
