I have a 2005 SLK 350 and my SUNLIGHT started to come on then goes off, comes on, goes off.when I break the seatbelts tighten so I need some advice on how to approach this issue. The part cost for a seatbelts receptacle is over $500 and that does not include labor. Any advice is welcomed.

I can't help, but try posting on slkworld.com. Those guys are a wealth of info on all things related to the R171 SLK. Good luck on getting that sorted.
