hey dinko !

Actually its 0-100km is 4.9

0-62.5 = 4.9 to be accurate

the slk 32 managed 4.5 stock (car and driver magazine)

my dealer said , mb usually add a 0.5 sec on the 0-100 figure

so to change your question, the advantage of the v8 over the v6 is simply more power, and a hand-built amg engine.
hello dinko, thanx for the input,

but i meant the SLK 32 vs the SLK 55

sorry

The biggest difference of course will be the fact that one engine is supercharged [V6] and the other a natural aspirated V8.

Both have cons & pros:
V6 SC < V8 NA: The 55 is a 5.5 liter V8 (lots of gas); the V6 SC is a 3.2 - but does not have better fuel economy than the 350, but does have about a 2 liter take.

V8 NA < V6 SC: You get more power:
V6 SC: 349 hp; 332 torque
V8 NA: 362 hp; 376 torque
- May not seem like much power, but to me, it makes the difference

And now lets talk general:
As soon as the new line of SLK's are released, people wont be looking back at the R170's as they are today. Take for example the <2002 SL's and the 2003> SL's.

Far more elegant interior: Navigation, CD in glovebox (compared to 32's trunk), 11 speakers (!!!), 7 speed over 5 speed, and you don't have to deal with the Vinyl on the R170's peeling off (it's a *****!). That's just a few.

Hope this helps!

P.S. SLK 55 is the way to go

Well if they add 0.5 then I suppose 4.4 would be nice to say about a 55

But that's not gonna happen.

It is easier to get more power out of the SLK32. Pulley and Chip will give you ~90 ft.lbs and ~50hp in the midrange, can't remember what peak is changed to.
It's not even that hard to get much more power out of the 55 engine. EX: Look at www.renntechmercedes.com and look at the "CLK 55" tuning (CLK because they have the same engine)

Do you mean the old SLKs will get hit hard or all of them in general?

Only the old ones.

I'm sure the new model will be marked up in price, imo.

Me too. The SLK 171 is like a Playstation 2... everyone had a PS1, so everyone will get the PS2!

Btw... I hate PS's in general.. Xbox all the way!
-Hence my ex-company

Hi Dinko

I never had the SLK!
This will be my first MB ever!

I had been a bmw fan!, but looking into MB, no comparison either way, looks and performance...

So this will be my first playstation 2 hehe LOL

even you guys here on this MB forum are friendly and sweet,,,, when we I was on bmw forums (roadfly) fighting within the family ( z3 , z4 , z8 , m5 , m3 ......) I really felt disgusted and I always loved MB and Porsche, just felt they will always be superior no matter what...

thanx guys!

It's not. AMG doesn't make any manual transmissions. Your only choice is the 7 speed auto.

Ok CLK55 Renntech Upgrades:

$3495 gets you 20hp and 24 ft. lbs of torque bringing you to: 384 hp @ 5500 rpm and 402 ft lbs of Torque @ 3000 rpm.

Now SLK32 Renntech Upgrades:

$3495 gets you 45hp and 60ft lbs of torque bringing you to: 394 hp @ 5700 rpm and 392 ft lbs of Torque from 2700-5000 rpm.

Follow the link below and you will see the SLK32 gaining 75hp and 90 ft lbs of torque in the midrange.

http://www.mbautowerks.com/performance/00004/00004.html

The SLK32 is just starting its mods, another 7-10hp for the SLK55 splitter, 10-15hp from headers, ~7hp from wire & plug upgrades, cams for another 20hp, you can also go with a bigger pulley, upgraded cooling, etc.

Dollar for dollar the SLK32 has more potential.

Now the biggest challenge in either car will be getting them to hook up with all that power.

I am not saying HP & Torque are all that make a car. If I wanted the greatest performance dollar for dollar I would have purchsed a Corvette Z06.

Those F1 wheels will not unfortunately be stock.

Its either the multispokes or the standard AMG 5 spokes that are optional on the lesser SLKs.

UK chap - have you ordered one?

2003 BMW M3 convertible
???

Has anyone checked out the C55 , same engine setup , but different stats- I currently drive a 2003 BMW M3 convertible, I love it, but I plan to trade this fall for either the SLK55 or C55, I gotta see how much bigger this new SLK is, because size stopped me 2 years ago from buyin an SLK. I would like to stay with a drop top, but if its too small I'll look into the C55. any opinions?

How come the pewter doesn't have smoked tail lights?

And yes, it does look good in pewter! When i was going to buy a SLK32, pewter was gonna be the color to go with.

pewter looks better than the normal silver. But I think brighter colors look better on a small car like this. Different people have different taste
