SLK55 Base Pricing

Our Regional Product Specialist just came by our dealership with the new SLK and did some product training with our Sales dept. The car is fantastic, but the most important part of the seminar with that she told us the base price for both the 350 & 55. Now, we all know that the 350 will have a base of $45.5k, but the 55 will have a base MSRP of $62k. This does not include destination and from what she says this car may not have a Gas Guzzler Tax, due to the fact that it will have a AMG verison of the 7G-Tronic tranny!!

BTW, we just received our first SLR Mclaren! I will try to take some pics and post them in the SLR forum today!!

The MBUSA website states the US version 2005 SLK55 when ordered with an automatic will come as a 5-Speed automatic, tweaked by AMG. So evidently, the 7-Speed automatic will only come on the SLK350. This makes sense as the 5-Speed will no doubt be an off the shelf item. The 7-Speed must not yet be able to handle the additional torque of the AMG engine.
Interestingly, it also says the 7-speed will be able to skip gears on upshifts depending on conditions. I think this is more than just starting out in 2nd gear.

2005 MB SLK 55 AMG
the website is wrong

The Website is wrong; it's a typo. I actually let them know a few days ago, they confirmed it's a typo and they'll fix it (since it's flash they can't just type it over in ASCII). The AMG55 comes with a special sport-version (different program) of the 7G, exclusively, worldwide !

Best,
Dan

Actually, I see it listed both ways on the website for the SLK55...7 speed auto and 5 speed auto.
