Ac compressor kaput?
First time poster….I did a bonehead thing when charging my ac, I allowed liquid refrigerant to pass briefly through both high and low ports when starting recharging. Heard a pop/crack right away. Low pressure would not go below 70psi and high was at 30 psi. Compressor inner nut is not turning with engine running. Not verified if compressor will freely turn on a wrench. If it turns I would prefer to replace the pulley only, rather than opening the lines. I almost certainly hydro locked the compressor and snapped the pulley safety. My questions:,
- What are the chances the compressor was saved entirely by the pulley and no metal introduced to the system?
- Should be possible to get a socket and wrench onto the compressor pulley nut from below?
- If okay, and no refrigerant, will the compressor turn easily on the 3/8 ratchet?
- Book says pull the compressor out through the top of the engine, really?
- Is it really feasible to replace the pulley while leaving the compressor alone? There is a video, but the nut is likely very tight..
