Finalizing my order (build date wk 2 of April) and I have a question on accessories that my salesman is not too clear on.

Does anyone have Illuminated Door Sills (either on SLK55 or SLK350)? If so, were they a factory install (or VPC) or only at the dealer? Also if you have them on a SLK55 does it say AMG or still SLK?

On the mbusa website, in the build your slk 55 section it shows the illuminated sills with slk on them. I'm guessing you can buy them aftermarket with amg on them, there is a thread somewhere on the forum discussing this subject. Oh, what colors and options are you getting?

Thanks for replies, so far. But let me explain my question better.

I'm interested in getting the MB Illuminated Door Sills (especially if it says AMG instead of SLK) BUILT with my car as a MB option/accessory.

My salesman is telling me that illuminated door sills is a dealer install accessory ONLY, but that service has told him the are a PIA to install, hence salesman is discouraging me from them.

I would like to know if anyone has ordered them with their car order (either SLK55 AMG or SLK350). And were they built in at the factory or did the dealer have to install.

P.S. My order is SLK55 AMG, Black Obisidan (the metallic black), red&black interior, and all the US options (except phone), ie. Airscarf, Lighting pkg, Entertainment w/Nav, Premium Pkg, Wind Screen (Plexiglass), wheel locks, and Illuminated Door Sills (if I can figure them out!).

Build date is April D2 (second week). Finalized order Fri, should have specific build date next week (after order entered into the system). Salesman says to expect delivery mid May.

From every forum topic on this subject I have read, they are a dealer installed option or an aftermarket option only. No factory build with car. You can tell by the fact that the sills are listed as an accessory on the MB website.
