KLEEMANN presents yet another high-performance car without comparison. Based on the new SLK 55 AMG from Mercedes-Benz, KLEEMANN produces a power output of 596 Hp and 770 Nm with a KLEEMANN Kompressor System and a Stage 8 engine upgrade. The KLEEMANN SLK 55K S8 has an electronic speed limit of 300 km/h and hits 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds.

The power source in the SLK roadster is a specially revised version of the eight-cylinder Mercedes-Benz NA (Normally Aspirated) 5.5 litre engine. Equipped with only the KLEEMANN Kompressor system the engines power output raises from standard 360 Hp / 265 kW and 510 Nm to an impressive 550 Hp / 404 kW and 718 Nm.

Additionally the SLK 55K S8 is fitted with the KLEEMANN Stage 8 tuning kit. The engines ECU is reprogrammed and application specific super sport camshafts are fitted. To further improve the engines gas flow the 5.5 litre V8-engine is fitted with custom-developed headers in stainless steel and a complete dual 70 mm stainless steel exhaust system utilizing four steel racing catalysts. As the finishing touch to it all, the KLEEMANN SLK 55K S8 is fitted with two Trapezoid-shaped rear mufflers.

After the full tuning conversion from KLEEMANN the eight-cylinder engine delivers a maximum power output of 596 Hp / 438 kW at 5800 rpm and even more important for the overall driving characteristic is the peak torque of 770 Nm available from 2000 rpm. This incredible power is routed through a custom-made KLEEMANN Limited Slip Differential (LSD) which applies a 60 percent lock-up ratio between the rear wheels. This modification is essential for maximum traction of the driven wheels and the fantastic acceleration figures for this car.

The power treatment pushes the SLK roadster far beyond normal sports car territory. Not many super cars are able to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds and 200 km/t in 12.3 seconds, but the KLEEMANN SLK 55K S8 does so without any drama. Like all other high-performance KLEEMANN cars the top speed is electronically limited to 300 km/h.

To meet the enormous performance potential of the KLEEMANN SLK 55K S8, KLEEMANN has developed exceptional upgrades in terms of wheels, suspension and brakes.

The KLEEMANN SLK 55K S8 comes with a choice between the classic two-piece TM-5 and the three-piece forged TS-6 light alloy wheel, which can be fitted on the car in sizes ranging from 17- to 19-inches in diameter. The largest possible combination on the SLK 55K S8 is the KLEEMANN TS-6 alloy wheel in size 8.5JX19 for the front axle with 235/35 ZR 19 tires, and 9.5JX19 with 275/30 ZR 19 tires on the rear. The special shape of the TS-6 rim star augments aerodynamics as it exhausts the air from underneath the car. In addition to reducing lift this also increases cooling of the brakes and adds to the handling and stability of the vehicle.


I'm by far not a SLK fan, but this car is going to kick some ***.

This car should be tested on the Tracktest of europes TV-Magazines(Top-gear etc.). I'm sure this car would get a good place.

The added weight of the supercharger and the heavier wider rubber is slightly offset by the lighter rims and brakes so the final weight should be less than 3500 lbs. OEM is 3397lbs.

I was going to get the Kleeman performance upgrade after my 7 year warranty. I wasn;t going to do anymore research on the Kleeman Peformance upgrade because I thought that the highest was the 560 hp. Now that you showed me that it has 596 horsepower and with better looking exhaust pipes I am seriously going to get the SLK 55K S8. I wish it had 4 more horsepower. Maybe mine might come with 600hp. I love the bodywork too, they kept the really nice AMG body kit on it with a little touch up on the front. I am also going to get the LSD doors or the Kleemann scissor cut doors. LSD doors alow you to open doors normally and the scissor cut way (LSD doors have to directions of openings) I probably will just stick with Kleemann.

Do you know how much it costs?
I will have fun with it. I am already having fun with my SLK 55 AMG with its 360 hp.

hmmm, I'm gonna take a wild guess and say the 1/4 mile at 11.5 @ 125 mph with some Drag Radials?
On a side note, can the 7-speed handle all that tq??

Why not?...... the 7G already handles more torque in the SL65 and as far as I know its much the same gearbox as in the SLK55 so this one should also be fine. The ESP may have to work overtime so it could be quite a jerky ride if you aren't a smooth driver

SL 65 has the 5 speed transmission. Still the tranny should be able to handle the torque. The weak link should be the rear differential.

I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me if the total upgrade costs 40K to 50K US$. Similar upgrades for the SL55 (without the kompressor even) come around those figures.

What I don't see mentioned in the press release is any upgrade to the 7SP transmission. One would think that that blows up when you put all that torque on it...

..............i don't know if you know...........Kleemann did the same upgrade in the C55 and got the same numbers. The C55 was featured in the Mercedes Enthusiasts magazine. Seems that the power of the Kleeman upgrades for these cars is consistent across the board. Incredible!

It does seem a waste to throw away all those AMG goodies. So my future mod list will be the LSD first, wider rubber at 20K miles, then the Kleemann or Carlsson SC (8000USD). 12-18K is not unreasonable for 3.8 0-60 times. That extra .1 will be costly, though.

How much did it set you back to get the conversion? How long did it take?

I think some people said that Kleemann tends to rate their performance numbers a bit higher then what most people find them to be... i.e. instead of 596hp, it might be closer to 590, or even 580. Also, I think this is european hp (DIN?) so in American hp numbers, that's like 585...

Still, very impressive numbers, and I doubt it would be TOO hard to get 600hp, maybe just ask Kleemann to make the ECU a bit more agressive?.

Hey Dragon.

Was your dyno SAE corrected since Colorado Springs is at altitude? If not, your Benz is putting out more than 531 Hp at sea level (as it should, Stage 7 should yield 590 at the flywheel, the cams are worth another 27 Hp = 617 for Stage 8, I believe). Just curious as my SLK55 S7 hits the dyno tomorrow. I have the same set up as you in my SLK so you can use me as a baseline dyno to approximate your own RWHP ).

The speed shop owner took it out on the road last Friday & said the car was absolutely insane (tommorow he has dyno time so we'll see the first baseline numbers)

Sorry for the belated reply... I'm not sure if its SAE corrected. I'm actually dynoing it here in Vegas tonight on a DynoJet to get the RWHP.

My ECU had to go back to Kleemann today for reprogramming as my rwhp is off (only 411 rwhp = 485 Hp @ the crank w/15% drivetrain loss). When I get the car back next week, I'm going to have to drive it for a week to allow the ECU to "learn" again before going back for its final dyno.

This tuning has been taking a while due to the iterative sending of the ECU back & forth to Colorado, checking dyno, finding small problems like a failing fuel pump, etc....pain in the **** man . Ah well, I must await while these "kinks" have been getting worked out. I'm hoping it will be the last time on the dyno next week but its crucial to ensure the set up is indeed producing the power its supposed to. (its down about 90 rwhp right now which is why we pulled the ECU again & resent via Fed Ex today). The software must be adjusted as the latest dyno clearly shows a non linear curve. #1, the power is down since ECU has not had time to learn (must re learn each time Kleemann guys try a different map), #2...the overall curve is down by about 90 rwhp - software base map is not right. Brandon @ Kleemann is working to adjust. John (CT Motorsports) has been great....its just taking some more time.

I'll post pics when I get my car back....power production is my priority right now. 500 RWHP is the goal.
