I recently bought a 2012 SLK55 AMG and am really pleased with it, apart from one thing. Whenever I start it (on the key) it automatically blips the throttle - which can be very pleasant during the day, but really annoying if it's early in the morning and you're trying not to wake the neighbours..
When the Stop/Start operates in traffic, the engine restarts perfectly quietly.
Does anybody know whether it is possible to set it to start quietly all the time, or am I doomed to be considered a boy racer by anyone within earshot?

you're doomed, the AMG start up bark is one of the best things about AMG ownership LOL
Ha ha - thanks for the quick reply! As I feared then - personally I think it's a magnificent sound, but not everyone shares my enthusiasm for naturally aspirated V8s. Perhaps the neighbours will grow to love it....

Definitely a glorious sound, haha. I'm trying to get into a SLK55 for that very reason, to hear that noise each morning 
One other reason the restarts may seem quieter, is the exhaust tubing is at full operating temp. Cold starts are generally much louder.
