because the sidepipes. I don't know that much about th eUSA, but I think they are legal in the U.S.

In germany for example sidepipes are illegal. There are also slr versions with normal pipes at the back i think.
The old viper RT/10 and the new one had also sidepipes. For germany or for the countrys where this is illegal there are normal versions with normal ehauhsts. A new rt/10 drive in my town. I'm everytime happy when I see it, coz I'm really sick of the UFO-tuned cars like the crappy bmw's with the clowns inside.

btw, In my taste, sidepipes are ugly as hell. Also at the SLR. They are o.k for a Dodge ram etc. but not for a sport car, in my view. And I think after some thousands kilometres there will be black dirrty in the side of the car.
