To clear up the confusion on others in Michigan, If they are, then they are not registered to this state, they may just be touring for that matter. According to Mercedes of Novi, they said that this is the only one on the road in michigan, while thier sister dealership in Bloomfield has one that is only a 2005 but with the 10000 300SLR Red leather.

I would doubt that MB of Novi knows every SLR in the state. The one's they've sold sure but not the ones brought in from elsewhere. After all, RP has over 250 car dealerships in the US alone and at least one is a MB dealer (Chandler, AZ). Totaly conceivable that he took delivery there and shipped it home. A new SLR would look nice next to his original 300SLR, and the Continental GT, and the Enzo, and the Mini (WTF?)!

Penke's United Auto Group is one of the largest network of dealers in the world and includes 6 MB dealerships so I doubt he would walk into MB of Novi or Bloomfield Hills and buy one.

It still doesn't take away from having an SLR in your family! I wish my dad bought one!

Probably. Hard to say where one township ends and another starts. Bloomfield, Beverly Hills, Bingham etc. Nice place but too close to Cananda for me!

He went with Hagerty Insurance, $5,600 a year, $2,500 deductible, and 2500 miles or less per year. And wrong, you do not HAVE to be insured on every vehicle in the household, obviously becuase i have to be 25 in order to even be insured.

Wow nice car. I actually have never seen a SLR in person yet. I'm sure it will come along at shows and stuff though.

Typical exotc/classic car policy. High deductible, low miles and no one under 25 as well for my 1966 Corvette. Pisses my daughter off big time! :p Technically, she is covered under the policy attached to her and her car. Might be liability only, I have to read our policies. In other words, you have insurance on the Jeep and you are a listed driver. It might follow you if you were driving another car that did not have insurance as your dad's SLR would not with you behind the wheel. All bets are off if both cars are under the same policy. Mine are not. Take advantage of that coverage and I bet they'd drop you as they handed you the claim.

Wow! Sweet pics. Thanks for sharing.

I love seeing natural pics of the car instead of the show/dealership pics.

I don't know why I got this in the mail but I received a flyer from Metro Detroit Mercedes-Benz Dealers (I had my car checked for an error message while in MI)

Anyway, there is an article about your dad buying his SLR and he previously had an SL55. In the pics in the article, he is wearing what he was wearing in the pics you posted. It mentions him attending the SLR owners event in Miami and looking forward to taking his car onto the homestead track. How is he getting the car down there?

Again, congrats to your dad!

that car is SO hot. i just saw one recently at the MB dealer in town. one sales rep. said they had sold it, and were just waiting for the paperwork to go through. i was saddened by this, but i suppose it's no big deal since i probably won't be able to afford one of those for another - oh - 30 years. that's ok, they're still beautiful to look at! congratulations on your dad's new car. enjoy it once you turn 25 :-D

that car is simply amazing.

There is one at the dealer near my home in brentwood,TN but it is already spoken for... in fact the owner put a 50k deposit down on it 5 years ago supposedly.

not stock.
congrats, i know how it can feel when older relatives have exotics. My dad normally is more of a "boat" kind of guy, although has always driven nice euro cars, just not that exotic. but on the other hand, my uncle has owned in the last 5 years a F.355, 360, 550, 575...and just ordered the 430. Then my cousin has had the 993, 996 with mods, and now a speed yellow 997. They also owned / own CL600, CLK430, E500, S55, 500 SE, ML430, ML320, and a porsche cayenne S.

My point is, i get to drool all over these, test drive them, drive them every once in a big while.....if you dont mind me asking, what cars do they daily drive in your house?

Wow, very nice, I got to get a look at a SLR up close, they have one for sale in Mercedes of Manhattan. My question is, why do you have a Jeep Liberty...?
