As a matter of fact, the SLA was not intended for the rich and famous. It was target for the crowd between the CLK and SLK, and it has shorter wheel base than the current SLK.

That's not really correct...
The SLA was based upon the A-class body and was made for the same peoples buying the A-class (primarily in Europe). It has been presented in 1999/2000 and was cancelled in 2001, because DaimlerChrysler decided to build the MCC SMART roadster instead!
