SLR McLaren Market Values
There's not much discussion on this subforum (or any on the internet for that matter) regarding SLR McLarens.
These cars are intriguing considering they're one of the few from that era that are still trading at below their MSRP.
They have aged like fine wine however and it seems they're getting the respect they deserve lately as people look back on it as a car that was misunderstood considering it launched alongside the likes of the Carrera GT and the Enzo.
Given that, how many of you owners are considering selling your SLR in the near future? It does seem there are less and less coming up for sale recently...

I agree with your assessment. Until just few months ago, there were consistently 13-15 SLR's for sale on Autotrader and Cars.com. Now, it's down to 5 or 6, and if you break it down between hardtops and convertibles, only 2 or 3 of each. I saw the same pattern with Porsche Carrera GT's just before the price shot up above $1,000,000.
I personally know a handful of people, including me, who own more than one. Manny Khoshbin owns 8, and we can all agree he knows his cars.
I think we know where SLR prices are headed.
In fact, a white SLR convertible with 2,600(?) miles sold today on Bring a Trailer for $450,000 (also need to add $5,000 BaT fee). These convertibles used to be listed for sale in the low $300,000 range until very recently.
On a similar note, I see the same pattern with Mercedes SLS's. I don't see why they should not be valued similar to 05-06 Ford GT's.

My hunch is that the SLR doesn't have the direct lineage connection to the original Gullwing that the SLS has and that may possibly account for the lower values. I guess time will tell. It does seem that the SLS Black Series will be the most valuable of the SLS cars given that only 132 were built. The Black Series is the 21st century version of the original aluminum bodied Gullwing of which only 29 were built and is the holy grail of the Gullwing universe. It'll be interesting to watch what happens.
