Brand New SLR Available at $100K Over Sticker

My local dealer has a brand new SLR, Brilliant Silver/Red Interior on the showroom floor. They said that it also has a special leather interior "SL300 Silver Arrow Leather?" that he said was a $10K option. The car stickers at $465K.

I was there to try to place an order for a CLS55 for my wife. They said that they already had more orders than cars and were no longer taking deposits. As I began to trudge out, I saw the SLR and couldn't resist asking how much they really wanted. (The not-for-real sticker said $999,999)

I mentioned that a friend of mine has interest in an SLR and that he'd ask the manager (the same guy who just turned down my deposit) what the real deal was. He came out of the office and said that if he sold the car within the month, he'd qualify for another SLR he didn't think he'd get. (True? I don't know) As such, he offered the car at 100K over sticker if my friend took it before month's end.

I called my buddy, only to find that he's now more intent on trying to get an Enzo than an SLR and although he said it was a great sounding deal, he'd pass.

So I ask you, is this as good a price as I think it is? And if so, is anyone on this board interested? (Oh yeah, and what's in it for me, you ask?)

I don't want to be any part of the deal. I don't want any money and I'm not getting any kind of referral fee. For me, if I get the car sold, the dealership will sell me the CLS55 I want with no waiting and no markup. It's basically the same offer I've got from another dealership, but they are 150 miles away.

So, if anyone is interested, let me know via PM.

Regards, a "lowly" SL55 owner.

Any MB car over MSRP is not worth it. Tell your buddy to keep looking, he will find one @ MSRP

something fast
I know of a car with the exact color combo (MSRP 465,000) that can be purchased for $525,000 or $60k over with no haggling. The prices are dropping faster than panties on prom night, I think by summer you will see new cars @ MSRP and used cars below msrp. Think about all those people who were first in line that payed $1 million, they lost over $500k in less than a year (ouch)! I understand paying over for something that is in high demand and will stay there ie Enzo but they are going to build 3500 slr's over a 7 year period, this car is not special in terms of limited number produced. We will see how many dealerships lose long time customers who were screwed into paying $1million for the first slr's.

Those who paid over sticker screwed themselves. The dealer's job is to maximize profit. It's out job to be smart enough to spend hard earned (or not) money wisely. A fool and his money will soon part.
