Back home and looking for an SLS
Howdy,
I must say that being abroad with restricted internet accesss has made it tough to keep up and contribute to this forum. That said, I'm back in the U.S. after 4 years away and really glad that the affordability index for cars is much higher than the RoW...
After much deliberation, I've decided to take the plunge and pursue an SLS coupe! This forum has been an amazing source of info and I am truly grateful for the candor and authenticity of its members. This has been an insightful thread on prices and an assessment of the U.S. Market overall.
I have been eyeing this one quite a bit over the past week.

While the red/black interior is not my first inclination, I am warming up to it along with being reverent of the Silver / Red heritage.
Any thoughts or opinions on this car? Have already initiated a PPI with a local independent shop.
All the best,
-R

Thanks! I guess relative to the topic of this thread, the spread of pricing seems to be pretty wide. Honestly, over time, I would have expected a little more normalization of the Mean after 5 years but I guess we chalk that up to personal preferences for color, options, mileage and accidents.

Thanks! Been searching casually since the beginning of the year but things heated up the last month pending repatriation. Have done quite a few video walk throughs and a couple of PPIs. Have learned quite a bit about how to spot irregularities and odd items.
I do have to say that I have been reading a lot of good things about the guys at MB Laguna and I have to agree they are top notch. They were extremely meticulous on a PPI for another SLS that I passed on.

I have a 2011 SLS AMG Coupe with 600 miles that I am contemplating putting up for sale. I bought it in 2015, silver over red. Due to the miles I dont want to drive it so maybe it is a good time to let it go. Any ideas as to what i should list it at? I have a number in mind but wanted to see what the thought is on this forum?

If you are looking for a comparable car, although its a 2012, there's this one...

The median price and miles in May 2017 on Autotrader for a 2011 SLS were $189K and 14K miles.

Designo mystic white 2011
So thinking of getting back into an amg after many years. I'm looking at a 2011 designo mystic white with beige interior sls 18k miles, one owner, clean carfax, b&o sound system. What is a reasonable offer assuming it's in great condition?

The car is in a tough space now. If your going to drop around $150k there are a lot of choices. You can get a new sports car in that range with a warranty so, very appealing to many. Most guy lease and dump Supercars now. I bet you 95% of the newer cars I see at these SoCal c&c meets are leased. It seems the days of actually owning/committing to a car are over. The only people buying SLSs now are collectors (and they will take thier time for the right car to come along) or an enthusiast that actually know how GREAT these cars really are and, have deep pockets because you have to now BUY these cars. The last of the 14's are coming off lease now. The supply will start to dwindle over the next few and then ....stay tuned

well said.
I still have my eye out to purchase one, as the gullwing design is iconic.
Seeing there are so many nice variations of the AMG GT coming out, that makes it an even harder choice. The standard GT's never sparked my interest, but the R and Black Series do.
And I put miles on my cars to enjoy them, the maintenance is not cheap and comes with the territory so a full warranty like you said is really nice peace of mind.
Even my CPO doesn't cover as much as I anticipated, and now question whether to get an aftermarket warranty vs. a CPO ELW where available.

Glad to see you are a fan of the SLS. There is an EW for a couple thousand that can be picked up that Edez mb has had great success with.
The AMG GT has already more US copies on the road (because of the price point) then the entire run of SLS so, long term gain won't be there (Prices are already under 99k second hand). If they make a BS GT it will kill the resale on the GTR. Those guys will take a huge hit. (Hopefully GTR guys are leasing.)
Keep in mind the SLS is still a "new" car, only out of production for two years. I bought mine for $65,657 under sticker and have been enjoying it for 2-1/2 years now. I considered your typical Ferrari, Lambo purchase but, I needed something that I could put golf clubs in!
The SLS does EVERYTHING very very well. It is the only no compromise Supercar available.
