iPhone contacts not loading

Went thru all the motions of getting my iPhone phone book loaded on my car, but nada. I've heard of ripping contacts to a SIM card and then using a special adapter to load contacts into the car phone, but too involved for me.

Anyone with a better answer?

2012 SLS AMG
Just got my car yesterday and I too am now extremely frustrated w/ this also. Guess I can just keep the phone out and dial from it and use the bluetooth. Hopefully there wil be a fix. No one seems to know how to do it without using a phone or PC or something....

Easiest, but not perfect solution, is to purchase the $300 MIP adapter

A few weeks ago dealth with same issue and got response from MB owners online case manager. He was going to connect me with a product specialist to walk me thru process via telephone. But, later I got an email stating that product spec. would be unable assist me.

However, he did include a 57 page Media Interface Plus (MIP) Operation manual from learn.mbusa.com and suggested that I take it to my dealer for them to install. It's an extensive update to instructions that I got when purchased the MIP unit in March 2011, but I don't know if readily available to non-MB employees?

After first paring MIP and then iPhone4S OS 5.1 in that order, procedure on pages 36 thru 41 worked perfectly for me the first time with no dealership assistance. Solution was that I was missing step 6 after selecting on COMMAND screen Phone-Address Book-then Address Book in lower left corner-Receive Business Card(s), and then screen shows "Ready To Receive - Received: 0". At that point you have to press the Bluetooth button on MIP for 1 second until it turns solid blue and the download starts.

There are some significant limitations regarding syncing, but I downloaded all of my 618 contacts within minutes. It took me and my salesman 2 hours to figure this out back in 2011, and we got lucky for it to work. At least now I know how to replicate.

I would post pages from manual but don't want to violate copyright disclaimer.

BTW manual indicates that this procedure applies to NTG4 204 vehicles, i.e., C, GLK, and SLS-AMG, which are not equipped with Bluetooth protocol for phone book download (PBAP). Also, you need to make sure that your MIP firmware and software are upgraded, but that's pretty easy to do.

Overall process is a pretty lame solution since phone book in MIP and COMMAND are not synced so future downloads create duplicate entries and resetting phone book erases other COMMAND entries such as presets and navigation entries.
Their suggestion is to individually delete duplicate entries.

This is a link to older version of Media Interface Plus (MIP) operating manual

http://www.mbusa.com/vcm/MB/DigitalA...s%20Manual.pdf

Go to page #16 of manual (17th page of PDF). Make sure that you follow special instructions given in step 2 grey note that apply to the SLS.

Too bad there is no link for newer manual because each step has a screen that makes it a lot clearer to follow on the SLS COMMAND screens. Good luck. Oh yeah, MIP device retails for about $300, but if you have a lot of contacts to download saved time is probably worth it.

BTW you may be able to get current manual from MBUSA, 800.367.6372 since one of their case managers sent it to me; the updated manual that you want is titled: "Media Interface Plus (MIP) Operation (FechW) 11-3-10"
