What discount value to slightly damaged new SLS?

Imola grey 2012 dealer owned new/unsold w/50-miles damaged by service tech at a red light. 48-mo's mb factory warranty countdown begins at date of sale. No CPO extended warranty available and damage will be reported to various CarFax-type agencies.

I believe that the imola gray is more of a normal-type paint.. unlike the matte and the alubeam colors, right?

Aluminum raises concerns as not all body shops have that repair expertise.

What would be your concerns and how much off msrp once it has been repaired?

Not crazy bad in terms of damage espec with the engine being further back on the SLS. Are you the dealer or a potential buyer? Biggest "hit" will be years later when you try to sell and everyone pulls up the carfax report. In my view that could cost you in the range of $10-20K less than what other cars are selling for, so that's what I would go back to the dealer with in terms of a discount. I would also want them to include the repairs and you already have a warranty on other potential problems via the warranty period. Imola grey is a very popular color so no issues there.

Unless you have your heart set on this car, why not buy something with less than 1000 miles on it and generally will be discounted by the same amount as the damaged car?

Same thoughts here. I was able to get my brand new SLS (delivered next month) at a slight discount. They can be had for less than MSRP. I considered also getting a used one but even the 2 yr old cars coming off lease are going for 160-170's. figured I'd just get new. Also planning to keep for a long time. Would worry about resale, but if able to get it at discount from the dealer for 10-20K, then I'd say go for it. Can always hit up cars.com and start calling dealers that have them on lot. Some WILL be willing to deal.... Good luck. Keep us posted.

PS... They should repair the car to new quality before you even consider messing with it.....

There are loads of used showroom condition SLS's out there with just a few months taken off the warranty period and limited miles. I would prefer that to a damaged vehicle that you might always be second guessing.

In the day and age of the internet, you're also not limited to what's in your neighborhood. I set a limit of a few hundred miles with my search and just figured I'd drive or fly a few hours to check the car out. My suggestion would be to buy through an authorized MB dealer vs a smaller outfit. You can always get the car serviced as I'm sure you know at your local MB dealership.
