1st track day with my SLS
I did complete my first day of tracking yesterday and all I can say is WOW. I was a little apprehensive about really pushing the SLS as I wasnt to keen on any expensive repair bills...but this car seemed to beg me for more. I was totally impressed on how much speed this car carries into the corners. As Scott said, the rear axle grip was way more than I expected. Powering out of corners was impressive as well. Feathering the throttle through corners gave me a sense of one with the car. But what most impressed me was how the engine maintained cool, I remember my C63 would overheat, and manual mode would soon turn into a limp mode and I would be stuck in sport due to the tranny overheating as well. The SLS maintained the same temp as I was street driving, and the car never booted me out of manual mode, the DCT tranny let me choose my gears all day...impressive. I did about 60 laps yesterday and I felt the car made me a better driver, I just loved the characteristics this car has on the track. Funny thing, a few of the instructors came to me as I was packing up to leave and they said "this car has some serious grunt" and that I was really moving all day, they were laughing on the velocity and ability to pull on the Porshce GT3 RS 4.0 that was there....mind you so was I. One thing that I will do is change the brake fluid and put in something that can handle more heat, so a brake flush is next.

that's what I love about the SLS is that the engine stays cool even you push it so hard.
When I drive my bro's SL63 just with a few kicks the oil temp will go above 110C and may go up to 120-125C but when i see it reaching 117C I just stop kicking hard. With the SLS I have never seen my Oil temp above 107 although I push it further with it
