My SLS crashing a Ferrari Festival
I was at the Ferrari festival 2012 in Ottawa this weekend and they asked if I would like to attend and participate in the demonstration. I obliged, but I was asked to go first as they equated my car as the Formula 1 Safety car and they thought it was appropriate, so I went first out of about 40 Ferrari's....before you all laugh, I was a little nervous in front of a few thousand people and I wanted to try and do a brakestand and smoke the tires a bit before I took off, well, apparently the electronics on the car would not let me so it seemed I bogged the car real bad. Anyway, after that I did get it going and was complimented by all of how insanely loud my car was and how vicious it sounded, here is a video someone taped of me.

Your car was the best out there, don't listen to those Ferrari freaks.
Why didn't you use race-start mode, instead?

Its pretty clear that you did not turn "ESP OFF" when you tried the burn out. Try it by yourself this time with ESP OFF. left foot on the bake and step the gas pedal real hard with your right foot. And watch her burning.
You could have also launched the car with the race start function.

Thanks danlnyc, it was a neat experience for sure, what I got out of it was the amazing response and reaction people had to the SLS. The car had a heard of people constantly around it for pictures and questions, alot of the Ferrari guys werent to thrilled about that, but the majority of Ferrari owners are car enthusiasts and those type of people love or appreciate all cars. The audience also commented on how loud the SLS compared to the Ferrari's, the SLS is one very loud car, in fact I dont know how this is street legal in terms of sound levels sometimes.

As for the Ferrari's not being loud, I'm sure at full trot some of them sound glorious. Those v12s tend to really open up at the higher rpm's and start sounding like Formula cars. Your car is definitely beastly though. AMG knocked it out of the park.

A bit of deja vu as I remember you once 'leading' some Ferraris on a race track with your C63! It looked like they were all 'annoyed' and trying to catch up. :-))

You remember that? Thats funny, you are one of the originals in the C63 section and we were one of the firsts to experience that car....my first love always! Thanks, good to see you once in a while on this forum.

Yes, I'm still around. I was one of the first one on here and that video looked hilarious. It was like the C63 just stole something from the Ferrari s and they were in hot pursuit.Great to see you got what I believe is the only real replacement up from a C63, the SLS! I drove one on a track last year and cemented my belief that the SLS would be the only car to make me not feel too sad if I sold my C63.

Best thing to do is go to the dealer and they can show you, besides the manual also has specific directions...but in layman terms, you must have the car in drive, be at a complete stop, wheels must be facing straight, apply very hard brake pressure with your left foot, and it must be alot of pressure on that brake, at first when I tried it wouldnt let me as I wasnt applying enough force, then while applying the brake pressure, turn the know to RS and the screen will light up in red and tell you that you are in race start more and then it will ask you to engage the right paddle(upsift) with one click and then you can start giving it gas while your left foot is on the brake and then there you go!!
