SLS Gullwing temp gauge

I had the opportunity to drive a friend's Gullwing yesterday, fantastic experience. He commented on the length of time for the temp gauge to move off the pin. It doesn't move until after a good five miles of fairly spirited driving, at which time it jumps to 100. I told him I would try and find out if this was normal. The car only has 2400 miles on it. If anyone else could share their experience so I can either assure him it's OK or needs servicing it would be appreciated. It isn't normal operation to take that long to warm up in most of the cars I have. By the way this was the Los Angeles area, and it was pretty hot here yesterday. Thanks for any replies.

Agree, same here. No probs. I think it's oil temp not water.

Mine takes about 5-7 mins of very normal (2000-2500rpm) driving to reach 100 degrees
