SLS/R197/C197 AMG: Global Autosports Reviews | Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

The SLS AMG utilizes wing doors that open upwards on gas struts. It can also be found in roadster design, with regular doors. The design is impeccable and enthusiasts can’t help but relate it to other sport-track related cars as opposed to those autobahn focused models such as the SL. For those of you familiar with the television series “Top-Gear,” car enthusiast and star Jerry Clarkson called the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG “the best car in the world” and described himself as being a huge fan. The V8 four-stroke engine boasts an impeccable 570 horsepower @ 6800 rpm and a torque of 480 lb.ft @ 4750 rpm with a hasty 0-60 mph of 3.8 seconds. The car is electronically capped off at 197 mph.

In terms of special editions, car enthusiasts should be foaming at the mouth at the site of the heralded Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series that is the most sporting version of the car, released in 2012. With increased engine power, the Black Series aesthetically features a distinct front splitter and rear diffuser. Also, another incredible adaptation of the car is the SLS AMG GT3, in commemoration of Mercedes-Benz’s 45th Anniversary, which has only limited availability and was designed specifically as a track car.
In the case of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Mercedes-Benz has the autosport and luxury car communities bewildered as they have certainly blurred the lines between road cars and race cars.
