Best way to drive an SLS

Just taken delivery of an SLS Roadster after having a number of 911's and still with an RS6 in the garage.

The SLS is quite different with the engine in the middle and much more grunt than my 991 S.

Interested in any tips on how to get the best out of the SLS and what to think about.

For example in the 911 best practice seems to be have your braking done by the corner and then foot down once you can see the other side and use the traction of the rear. The RS6 can be faster in (in fact you can pretty much do anything though they do understeer if you're a bit hot).

What's the best way to drive the SLS?

Thanks

You should post some pictures for sure, congratulations.

I think the best way to drive the car should be determined by the driver rather than another's advice, as it is really difficult to quantify the nuances of ANY car and its handling limits in writing. Furthermore, your driving style will differ greatly from another SLS driver's, it is just dependent on your current set of skills and level of comfort. If you want to learn how to drive it properly in a performance environment, consider coming up to California for the AMG Driving Academy which will teach you best practice in AMG cars.

To the OP,

you seem to know what you're talking about, but in the case that you've never been on a track: find a track day, not AMG academy, just a full day with other cars where you can do what you wish (to an extent). It is much easier to get a feel for your car on a racetrack than the street. I'm not saying you cant use these skills on the street, but you will learn much quicker on the track because you are always learning. When driving on the street, you really only learn how to handle your car when things let a little hairy or at the limit of grip, which I assume is not extremely often. One track day has taught me more about my e63 than 6 months of street driving, and i'm a very aggressive driver.
