Getrag 7DCL750 Gearbox Discontinued??

I may have this wrong.

It looks like the gearbox complete is no longer available as a new part from MB. On MB parts official sites there is a msg discontinued. Also remaned and other new gearbox components not offered, ie no MB or manufacturer support. I had a look at Ferrari Cali parts and its says there has been another superceded model(this has been done quite a few times) but no photo available and special order only but appears untested as a pathway. Same for Italia, and get this the price Ferrairi want for a new ordered gearbox if they even doing them is $40000 USD for a new one and $30000 for factory reman.

I am no longer selling the box I replaced with a new one. For the reman they want the other box as a one for one so I brought it new and keep the old box which I think if fine or near to it.

I could be mistaken of course.

That is sad indeed and will definitely hurt the value of these cars as the transmission box is the most notorius weakness of the SLS. Most of us felt the $10,000 price tag by Mercedes was excessive so $30K - $40K for the fragile tranny box alone is insane.

I bought a box from them 2 years ago, it wasn't $10,000 it was $23,000 fitted but I got to keep the old gearbox. I know that there has been a lot of development especially from Dodson Motorsports on fixes on these boxes. Mercedes didn't want to go that route for whatever reason.

So over all I don't think it is a major problem going forward, the major problem was Mercedes prior approach and evident in its decision to abandon the box. It is a bad stain on its reputation for me because I think it reveals a lot its approach to its "clients".

The fact that other companies are there to step in should make Mercedes management question its approach ie why do others step in when we step out or what are we missing here?
