rear end too soft

I have a 2012 coupe with @ 15k miles with the electronic suspension. The rear end seems too soft and bouncy in the softest setting compared to the front - my experienced mechanic says it felt like a C6 corvette with the leaf springs with blown shocks... It firms up in sport and sport + mode (1 and 2 lights on the switch) and no leaks on the rear shocks. Is this normal? I did not notice this with the regular suspension on other sis's.

Is there any real way to check the shocks short of replacing them?

I have also noticed that it starts up in the middle position for shocks - sport mode - but default should be comfort setting. Wondering if the electronic valve can go bad or ? Looks like quite a job to replace the shocks if necessary - to say nothing of the cost...

dealer amg tech said the rear shocks were 'soft' and needed to be replaced. Front shocks are fine - seems strange that they need to be replaced with only @15k miles. Also found out that the adaptive suspension defaults to sport on startup - no software issues were found and the module was refreshed with software. Parts available in Germany so waiting for them to be shipped.
