Veloce Performance Introduces Smart Tuning...

With the advent of the Smart Car in the US, my software guys have been busy putting a tune together for these cars.

While not a rocket ship, we are seeing a roughly 10% improvement in hp/tq. A widening of the torque band for better delivery as well as improved throttle response. Overall it gives the Smart a nice little 'kick' in the butt!

Our introductory price is $695. PM me for details or an appointment.

so a 7HP increase for $695 (5% of the cost of the entire car), what is the normal price for the upgrade?

probably brings down the 0-60 from 16 seconds to 15 seconds...

Sounds OK to me. The standard car will do 0-60 in 13 s. Not everyone needs to accelerate faster than those with larger members

We have about 500 hours of R&D into this tune so far, and I believe that it is a very nice kick for the car. 7 hp doesn't sound like much, but like allot of our work, it's not just about the numbers. It's about the way the car performs and feels to the driver.

We improve throttle response and broaden the tq band, so that those squirrels are running over a wider range! We try to tune cars to give them a more sporting feel. In this application we have managed to improve fuel economy as well. So that's a nice bonus.

I've driven two new smarts with 84 HP, (and bags of torque, they were turbos) and wow, did that extra torque make all the difference. I drove one of them in Germany and gave it a top speed run on the Autobahn. Now I want to dty a BRABUS with its 98 HP and 140 Nm of torque.....

I am not impressed. Poke me and I'll tell you why.

Aw shucks. 500 hours to reprogram an ECU for 7-10 hp? $700?

There is no reason to 'poke' anyone. Here is a link from a happy client on a SMART site.

Obviously he thought our R&D was worth it!
