Why is this site so slow?

When you try to post it moves slug slow.Browsing does'nt seem to be a problem.But alot of us like to post and read.

I usually don't like complaining but MBWorld has unacceptably slow the past few weeks. Sometimes to the point where it seems like the server starts rejecting connections or something.
I'm on a DS3 at work and over 5 megabits downstream at home so I know it's not on my end. If we start buying calendars can we get a bigger pipe?

I have never seen a time when MBworld has said the site would be down for maintenance.It's still very slow and ridiculous.It's amazing how Bimmeforums is always doing stuff to improve their site. They are always on top of their game over there.

It has to do with their server being overloaded most likely, not bandwidth.
They need a dedicated http server, and a dedicated mysql server; or at the very least one server with:
P4 2.8+
4GB DDR RAM
3 x 73GB SCSI 10,000RPM
Hardware RAID-5
Would need more information to properly spec a server out for this site.
vBulletin forums are heavy on 2 things: RAM and HDD IOWait
They need a dedicated http server, and a dedicated mysql server; or at the very least one server with:

Mrdredd, we already have a dedicated server running public mbworld and another one running the test verison. 
The test version is a multitude more powerful than what's running right now, but like I said it's test. (Damn..)
Currently according to netcraft we're running Windows and Windows and php don't get along as well as php+nix. The server is suffering from what Mr. Vanos called 'php contentation' which I think is just the php.exe getting too big, and multiplying too fast.

So why not switch to linux? Find a host that will manage the server for you, if you guys arn't that clued into the world of linux.
There is a cheap, fast, and easy fix for all this lag, I don't know why it would take this long to get it fixed.

This site may not be all that bad after all. I can live w/ a little sluggishness. It beats the hell out of daily crashes, lost passwords, unrecoverable data-dumps, etc...

You lot need relax, some people have bad experiences and some people have good experiences with certain products. I mean come on look at what the forum is about, MERCEDES BENZ, some owners (including myself) have had numerous problems with their cars and we don't go around telling the person to learn to take care of the car before you trash it. Also lets not forget its all in the best interest of us, meaning if the linux severs make the site faster then HURRAY for us! 
however if they dont then they don't as ricky said its at its test stage...HURRY UP!!!!!!!!! 
I have linux before and didn't have an all too pleasurable experience with it, perhaps its because i don't like change and love windows or what ever the reason maybe. With that said lets all grow up and lets all aim our energy at bugging the admins to make the site faster! well chop chop

The site is barely running today! It's taking minutes, not seconds, to bring up a thread, if I can get it up (so to speak) at all. I keep getting "TimeOut" messages, "Navigation Impossible" messages, and a couple of crashes trying to get on today, and as for the "Submit Reply," well forget it. I've unsuccessfully tried two Submits and failed both times. (Will try one more w/ this Reply...) They must have made that migration to Linux!!
