Why is this site so slow?

I have a horrible feeling that they have already switched to the new OS, and this is what we get. I really want to believe that this place will one day get its act together, but I've been trying to believe that for almost a year now and look where we are at. They don't talk to us about what they are doing or how long it will be before this place gets on track. It is very sadddddddd...

Just flying along this morning (on other forums) I know this is free, but if I was an advertiser or sponsor I would be ticked at the performance. VWVortex has a heck of a lot more volume and it is much faster. I am not looking for blazing fast speed, but sometimes it is best to just go away for a while. Do you guys have much info out of the logs? Is it resource conention, certain threads, or what exactly causes it to slow down to eventually getting timeouts??

Stiggs, Ricky once said you were the one in charge of fixing this site... Is the hoped for "improvement" because of you or in spite of you. Are you declaring yourself a success, or did I misunderstand? Not trying to be an SOB. Just curious about what is actually going on... I mean if you had a hand in getting MBW into "overdrive" I want to say thanks to you, not some mysterious admin. J

Ricky was just joking. Stiggs is too busy planning his marriage!!

Well, if he's in charge of **** he should be banned forever! But if he's getting married my heart goes out to him--but mostly her...

But seriously, there's no need to unless Vista provides you with something you *need* and in that case, you should've gotten a Mac in 2001
Windows ME was a big piece of ****. Windows XP is probably the best operating system out for home users that has come out from Microsoft. Networking is easier than Win2000. Some games (oddly enough) have compatibility issues with Win2000 as well (very few games though).
The only reason I can see Vista coming into my house is if I buy a game that requires DirectX10 (unlikely since I've stopped PC gaming with the exception of two games -- Tremulous and TA Spring, both free and opensource) or if I buy a Windows based computer in the near future (also unlikely seeing how I don't need one, except maybe for my sister but she's getting a Macbook because she doesn't deserve anything less at the moment).
Vista had a lot of things coming for it, but thanks to Microsoft being Microsoft they've botched the launch by removing all the cool things like WinFS, nuclear capabilities, ability to change hardware, removal of WGA, etc.

It's blazing fast here since we got the forum transitioned over to the new server + we're still tweaking it to make it much faster.

If they had a coupon or something from their manufacturer.
