IB / ADMINS -- Sponsor/Vendor Spamming Classifieds(Merge)
Hi All,
I am bringing up an issue again that has been going on for years with SOME sponsors/vendors spamming items for sale all over the forum. This includes the regular forums as well as the regular Classifieds where it specifically states "(No commercial posts)"
There is already a Vendor Classifieds so why isn't it enforced that our vendors are limited to only posting there? Vendor Classifieds
Perhaps if the Vendors want to post in the regular classifieds, either make a sticky for them to do this in each subsection or a sub-subsection specifically for them. Currently they are posting in this section already inundating it with their posts rather than the members that it is intended for.
I understand the need to have our sponsors/vendors and members enjoy purchasing from them but do not appreciate the spam all over the board from them.
Thank you and please everyone input your thoughts on this both members and vendors/sponsors.
Here are a couple of threads and posts I came across regarding this same issue
Sponsors and cross posting
Constant bumping of forum

Hi,
Thank you for the feedback. Unlike some other communities vendors have been allowed to advertise across the MBworld community since its founding. The vendor classifieds are available to our vendors to use, but not mandatory. However, excessive bumping of ads will be discussed with the vendor. Please report posts your feel should be reviewed by the staff and they will take a look. Thanks!

kick 323 out of here and all other vendors
First Off, Sorry for the inappropriate title, nothing against 323 but GOD Damnit Every fu***** Thread on this page is 323 Motorsports Spam I have to sort through a million ads to weed out the private sellers they should only be aloud to list in vendor for sale If I or other members wanted wheels brand new we would google them or look in the vendor thread... on top of that they dont post prices half the time and it's driving me crazy and I know I'm not the only one! Jut the first to speak my mind.
323 Not hating but man you gotta relax theres other ways to advertise create a nice sig and post useful post through out the forum the word will spread...

In other forums they usually have a section for Vendors only, separated from the private seller classifieds.
*Edit - My bad I didn't know there was already a Vendor's Classifieds in this forum. Yeah you're right, they shouldn't be advertising here, but I guess they know this is where people usually like to look. Shame on them lol.

Personally I have nothing against vendors posting in these threads. MBWorld monetizing this site is genius. They've spent a decade building up traffic and they should benefit from it no doubt.
I do have a problem with the no posting of prices. If you post an ad for sale, you should follow the same guidelines as every member here. "Here's what I'm selling and this is how much it costs: $xxxx"
The whole not posting prices is BS. I understand that they don't post prices for competition reasons but if the competition really wanted to know what you are selling the new AG 310 wheel for they can find out very easily. Why make an extra step for the consumer to click your website link? Personally, I've passed on a couple sets of wheels on this site because prices were not posted and I refused to go through the extra step to find out if the numbers jive. There are dozens of reputable vendors on eBay with the SAME product and posted prices weather it be auction or buy it now format.
While you are on the subject of 323, I loved those guys. With that said, I drove in there with the CLS and I got quoted something like $3K for some BS wheels and some $4i7 tires (Nexen). It angered me because I've bought 2 sets of wheels for my E55 from them and my bro bought 2 sets of wheels for his BM from them. Then they see a slammed clean CLS and all the sudden the eye gouging begins. If I drove in with a 1990 Nissan EX Cab truck I would have got the cousin pricing like everyone else. Just venting thats all. Ok I'm done.

I agree, this is for the members, the sponsors have a separate section and should use that.
I would also love to see the sponsors reply to threads/posts from members asking questions and seeking info, THAT would earn my business. I'm on a few watch forums and they're the same way... Ask a question about a watch, and you hear nothing from the venders. Mention you're LOOKING TO PURCHASE that watch, and all of a sudden ALL the venders come out of the woodwork offering you said watch.

I'm with OP. The vendors have THEIR OWN GOD DAMN SUBFORUM FOR POSTING THEIR SPECIALS. Let this be a sale section of individuals who are selling their setups.
There is NO REASON to allow vendors to plaster their spam here when there is a separate dedicated forum already.
MBWorld mods/admin need to get their act together on this.

I agree with the OP. I have been using this forum for years every couple of days. Every time I get to the tire section I get the impulse to ask the administrators to force these vendors to post in the vendors section. Isn't this the rule here? Every time I have to go through countless threads from these few vendors and I am tired and of their "sick" and "concave" wheels. Do they sell healthy and convex wheels too? Do they know what convex and concave is?
Why aren't the forum rules enforced?

Vendors pay to keep the site running, so nothing a MOD can do. Its like this in all the car boards. Someone has to pay . Now I do agree with you , they ***** our their advertisement like 10 threads a day but this is reality.

Evidently, MBWorld is extremely poorly managed compared to other leading German car forums.

Nope. This is the only forum I have seen yet where the vendors ***** out their ads in even the private Classifieds section. Bimmerforums.com, M5Board.com, maxbimmer.com, E46Fanatics.com, M3post.net, M3forum.com ALL have dedicated sections for "Vendor Sales/Announcements/Group Buys" and you won't see them plastering their threads across every single section of Classifieds.

With all that said I appreciate the work, money, and effort that was put into this place and I would hate to see it go because the higher ups misunderstood the role of this board. You are here to get traffic, which sells ads. It doesn't work the other way around.

Agreed. If I wanted new wheels I would look in the Vendor section. I can understand them not posting prices in some cases as there are a lot of manufacturers that require a dealer to sign a MAP (manufacturers advertised price) program agreement. In reality what it means is that they can't publicly advertise any price lower than the manufacturers suggested retail price. If you were them, would you post retail pricing? I recently had to sign one for a product that I sell even though I don't advertise at all.
All that being said, I would like to see them in the Vendor section only unless they are selling a set of used rims and then they should post the price.

This is a bigger deal than everyone is letting on. It is a real annoyance to have to keep reporting continual spam from the vendors and doesn't seem to resolve anything.
Here is another thread started again for this same thing with the vendors causing problems where private sellers can't really get their items seen.
Please make a change so vendors only post sales in their section so the private sellers can get their items seen.
