cap on when can post in classifieds

i had recommended putting a number in which someone must reach before they are allowed to post in the classified section.

Good idea, however that stops some of the people that have the WTB's or want to buy requests.

i understand that...but i believe that more often that the people with such few feedback posting in the classifieds are the ones looking to sell. many other forums use this same technique and i believe that it weeds out the small amount of people looking to "use" these forums for there own personal advertisement and nothing else.

It's a good idea in theory, but just because someone has the minimum amount of posts does not make them any more truthful in their classified ad. It's also very easy for someone to reach the minimum by posting in the off topic forum where some people post for the only sole purpose of increasing post counts.

We do allow members to post items for sale in our classified forum as long as it does not violate our Terms of Use. If for instance, a member had a commercial interest, and this was obvious in the ad, or brought to our attention in another way, this would be a violation.

As always, members should be very careful when making any kind of an online purchase.

revstriker... i understand what you are saying about posts not making someone trust worthy... but having a minimal amount of posts just makes sure someone is here with the thought of being a member and not the thought of getting a few more views of their car for sale. regardless of whether they get their posts from posting in the off topic section or any other section, it still shows that they took the time to post at all. not just show up post their ad, and only reply when someone makes a statement about their sale items. just my thoughts.
