Unable to remove attachments from thread

Hi there,

I have created the thread below and cannot remove attachments from the first post that are not needed:

- The 2008-2011 maintenance sheet is a duplicate and can be deleted
- The Canadian Service Booklet in docx format is broken and can be deleted as I have replaced it with a .pdf version
- The Canadian Service Booklet - 2012 C-Class_repaired.pdf is a duplicate and can be deleted

https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...ce-thread.html

Can you see why we can not remove attachments from our own posts? If for some reason we do not have the permission to remove attachments, can someone on the team remove them for me?

EDIT: This happens in all threads I’ve created, not just the one above.

Thank you

I can assist with deletion but, first, please let me know exactly why you can't delete them? Members do have the permission to delete them. Are you getting an error message or is the process failing? If so, please provide a description of the point of failure.

In case you're not aware, you have to go to the "Go Advanced", after the initial Edit button, to manage those attachments.

Hi IB JT,

Thanks for the quick response. Here are the steps I have taken to try and delete the files:

Device: iPhone X iOS 13.3
Browser: Safari
In desktop mode or mobile mode, steps below were in desktop mode

1. Click EDIT

2. Click GO ADVANCED

3. Click REMOVE for any attachments you would like removed

4. Picture showing attachments have been removed, click SAVE CHANGES

5. Pictures of attachments still on post

Hopefully this helps!

Thanks. This is a bug with the software and not by design. It's an issue specific to the legacy attachment manager, which you're using with non-picture attachments.

We'll have to do some further investigating on the issue.

Thanks

Hi IB JT,

I have tested this out again and have found a work-around, maybe it will help pinpoint the bug.

I did the exact same steps as above except after I clicked GO ADVANCED, I clicked MANAGE ATTACHMENTS, let the attachment upload screen pop up then clicked CANCEL.

Then I clicked REMOVE on only 1 attachment then clicked SAVED CHANGES and the attachment was actually removed. If I selected multiple documents to be removed, only the first would be removed.

I was able to reproduce the same results 3 times in a row to remove the other documents.

EDIT: Is there also any way to add a function that allows a user to rearrange the attachments in their posts? This would stop the need to remove attachments to reorder them as you also lose how many times the document has been viewed.

Thanks!

The sorting of the legacy attachments is not a feature within the software and would require some fairly extensive re-write of the core code. That does happen, at times, but whenever it does it's nothing quick due to the changes needed and the testing required.
