I use a VPN for security reasons (previously hacked etc) and cannot access MDWorld when my VPN is active. I have to pause it. This is the only website I have ever encountered like this. Is there a way to browse the forums with a VPN enabled?

Same issue here mate, I am just getting used to toggling my VPN on and off. Please update when you find a solution because I do not want to switch my VPN at this time. I have just seen that it works just fine with Proton VPN.
This is not unusual. A VPN doesn't really keep you safer, assuming you use https for sensitive sites. The VPN provider still sees all your traffic and your traffic is not end-to-end encrypted with a VPN. It's only encrypted between you and the VPN provider, after that it goes unencrypted if it's not https.
VPNs are often used by scammers and spammers to pretend to be in another country, so sites like MBWorld blocks VPN providers that are known to be used by those folks. If it's not the ASN then they may block the IP address, because the other issue with using a VPN is that all your traffic comes from the VPN's IP address. You are sharing it with everybody else, so if there's a spammer using it, your traffic can get blocked.
