Spring Compressor for Rent
FYI, I have a Klann-style spring compressor that is available for rent to anyone interested. I charge a deposit price of $150 for obvious reasons and then ship the compressor out. Then you do your thing and ship it back to me. Upon receipt I refund $100 of the initial $150 so your cost is $50+return shipping. Shipping is about $25 each way, depending on what you use. If you're local, we can work something else out. I'm not trying to make any real income here, but maybe it will help pay for the thing. Hopefully it will help some of you out!

um, I'm not sure if yours is the same style of spring compressor or not, but both AutoZone and Checkers have a free loaner tool program that includes both strut spring and coil spring compressors, and they are locally available everywhere. You may want to just sell it online, since I don't think anyone will pay you $50 to borrow it.

AutoZone just carries a universal-type spring compressor. They do not work well at all with the W203 front struts, and they're not much better with standalone springs.
If this was a few months ago, I certainly would've rented it to do my wagon springs. It'd have been worth every penny.

Having just done a suspension job on my W202 I can vouch for the fact that this spring compressor would've shaved HOURS off the install job. We used the spring compressors similar to the Autozone ones and had to take the lower control arm off the front on both sides in order to get the springs in place.

thanks for the comment, crusher. The tool is still available when anyone needs it. I just bought it to use when I need it so it sits under my bed most of the time.
