Engine light
Hi all,
I have a 2004 C180k saloon, and my engine light came on today and it's obviously worried me. I looked in the book and it's either the exhaust or ignition system.
A few times recently it's taken more than one turn of the key to start up so I'm hoping it is something small like the spark plugs, but it has sounded a little throaty of late too.
What is the possible causes? And do you think a complete novice like me could fix them?
I have booked it in to the garage for a diagnostic plug in tomorrow, but £40 plus VAT is annoying.
Any way, any pointers would be most welcome.
Cheers
Tom

I've looked up things on YouTube (marvellous what you can find!) and judging by one video, it seems I've got a small vacuum leak somewhere. Anyone have an idea of cost to repair at the garage? Or, better yet, how I could fix it myself - including finding the broken bit)?
thanks y'all

It might be the egr,on my engine the plastic vacuum line runs under the spark plug cover. You can either plug the leak,or buy a little rubber hose to fix the break.
