Viano aux in newbie question

Hi I have a 2004 Viano, broken cd changer under driver’s seat (looks common fault / flakey kit). I have no aux in, so am wondering if I could connect a jack socket to whatever wires are connecting to the changer, thus giving me an aux in? Or is it easier to remove the command unit and fit an aux the conventional way? Assume that option is harder work. Thanks for any advice.
