I’m a bit puzzled by the dimensions of this one. The long wheelbase model they’re bringing to the US is about a 10-12 inches longer US-market minivans like the Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna, and Kia Carnival. What’s the business case for that much extra length?
I would’ve thought that an EV platform would allow you to get more passenger and cargo space for a given overall length. Compare, e.g., with the Lucid Gravity which offers a more useable third row despite being meaningfully shorter than a GLS or X7.

I guess, but it still seems odd. The whole reason those body-on-frame SUVs are so large is that they need to be just to match the kind of passenger and cargo space you can get in a minivan with more efficient packaging. But I suppose with a longer wheelbase you can give the third row even more space so getting stuck back there doesn’t seem like an indignity.

"North America will only get the long-wheelbase VLE, whose 215.9-inch length is over 3 inches longer than a Cadillac Escalade. The additional length is entirely added to the B-pillar, creating a gap between the front and rear doors. This creates space for the rear cinema while preserving passenger and cargo space—key priorities for the VLE, because the party, as they say, is definitely in back."
