white and whiter
both are great cars. personally i would chose the M5 over E55 but since i can't drive stick E55 would be a better choice. but E55 is still to much bucks so i stick with my C32

go search on the ML forum there was a thread that has the link to the video of Motor Trend TV that was testing the M5 vs E55. E55 is more tail happy than the M5 and E55 is slower in the slalom test because of the oversteer.

Well shaena,
it really depends on your own taste... I would go with the E55 no doubt... But you can see the cons stated for the M5 and the E55... Go with your gut feeling.....

Smile thank you all very much

first and foremost, there are too many names for me to even list for my utmost appreciation. so i want to thank each and everyone of you, gentlemen for taking the time to reply to my post. after reading each and every post, i feel that i've acquired more knowledge prior to my first post. i feel that i know about the cars more than previously

for those who misunderstood me about M boards being immature, i want to correct my statement. it was never meant to insult anyone. however, there are boards, i do not want to mention, that just like to bash each other, especially something like my post. one board that i often visit is the bmwm5, which i don't mind posting there at all. as a matter of fact, i'll post there some time this week

i do both cars very much. if i only have the money to get both. one question i have in mind:
how does the e55 corner at sharp turns in comparison to m5?

thank you all,
shaena

M5 owners are the only non-punk, non-mb hating BMW owners.

They are both fine machines...

The thought of SMG II in the next M5 is an awesome one..

My older brother has a 2002 e46 M3 (no problems yet!) with SMG, and its a blast to drive...

Get what you want...Drive them both first- in daily life scenarios.. Helps make decisions..

Good luck!

In stock suspension form when the E55 corners at sharp turns it's soft imo. But once you change the suspension to kleemann oohh man get ready! Think of Bullet Train!

If you rate the styling between the M5 & E55 as equal; then go with the E55 since you said it would be a daily drive.

Actually I should have said, M5 drivers are among the few BMW drivers without highly inflated ego's. If you goto any BMW forum, you will see loads of immaturity in every forum except the M5 forums.

Accord is correct! I really think those 3-Series owners (not all) are really obnoxious and silly - Maybe because most E46 owners are somewhat young and immature.

If you goto a BMW forum and simply say the worlds "Mercedes-Benz", they get very hostile! When you say the words "AMG", they get intimidated.

"Our fabulous ultimate driving machine M3's will handle better than your crappy AMG's"...

Handling doesn't matter when your engine has exploded!

I would think that a majority of drivers are able to take advantage of a superior handling car anyway. It becomes more of a bragging right that cannot always be proven. For realz tho, how many people have the ability attack the apex of a curve at high speed while propery applying double clutch and toe-heel techniques to rev-match the downshift? This is my first auto tranny. I have driven stick all my life (including my previous Dinan modified 6-speed 540i) until 5 months ago, and I could never drift perfectly!!!!

I have driven both and I am an X M5 owner. I beleive both cars are just incredible but the M5 takes first place in my book when it comes to performance and handling. The M5 can be an every day toy because of that sweet 6 speed it has and awesome handling comparing to the E55. If you are looking for power and luxury then E55 is the way to go but if you are looking for a bit more fun than that then the M5 is the one........goodluck
