W210 - degradation of 'CF' door pillar trim
Just had the 'carbon fiber' door pillar trim replaced under warranty ... basically the 'dots' wore off over time. No particular wear or adverse exposure.
There was another 02 W210 in for service today with the same problem - anyone else seen this? I'd like to get some UV protectant wax on them or deal with it so I'm not replacing again in 3 years - it took the gnomes in Affalterbach a while to find replacements.

It's just painted, so like you suggest, wax the ***** out of them like the paint, but don't use anything abrasive or "buff" them out. If all else fails, get some replacement CF pieces from E-bay. Mine are OK (so far).

I bought the ones off Ebay and they look great and have the look of real "carbon Fiber". Mine were doing the same thing as yours, but just on the driver door. I have a feeling that even simple wax will remove the dots.

............I can confirm that those dots can be buffed out, but the results are not completely satisfactory since traces of the dots still exist on closer inspection. An alternative is to buy replacement pill trim that is just black without the dots. This is what I did and it is available at your MB dealer.
