Can someone explain me this!?
e55 will have 476hp as i know and new engines that SL55 will have 506hp right? And from what i know they both have same engine and same s/c so would it be possible to change e55 to the same power? what you think?

Mercedes wants to keep the higher hp exclusive to their top of the line cars. Stupid, but that is what they said.
Some of the hp loss also has to do with exhaust length, however, I do not think the E55 will have a shorter exhaust than the SL55.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I speculate that Mercedes uses the same rated engine in different models and only downgrades the HP rating for a "Marketing" standpoint.
Case in point - the 2002 S55 & CL55 are advertised with 355Hp and the 2002 E55 is advertised with 349. However, my owners manual list 355HP (SAE not DIN rates).
Maybe MBZ wants the owners of more expensive cars to fell good about their purchase so they advertised they have more HP while advertising the cheaper models have less. No need nor cost effective to have AMG building 2 versions of the 5.5 motor.

0-200 km/h mark
In Europe for the 0-200 km/h mark (0-124 MPH), the SL55 has been tested in 14.2 s, AutoMotorSport giving even 13.8 s.
So I am curious to see what would the new E55, and my guess was that it should not be very far, because the aerodynamic is as good as the SL, the torque reminds unchanged, and until 200 maybe the weight would compensate the HP missing for the E55.
But it is announced for 16.1 s, and I saw other figures in the range of 15.5 s.. why is that slower?
I am sure tests could give a good surprise, Mercedes being quite conservative when providing figures.:p
A BMW M5 Nowack (with 503 HP) would do 14.8 s, and the current M5 arround 16.9 s.

2004 S 600
Keep the faith....the new E55 for US doesn't get here until Fall next year....will probably have 500+
Mercedes does fudge the #'s for marketing reasons. My 2001 S600 will beat a S55 by .02, so says all the major US and Euro car mags....but their brochures say S55 faster by .01, 5.7 and 5.8.
