W210 E55 4matic, not driven for 2 years...what to expect?

Hey,

I'm being offered I think 01 (or may be 00) E55 AMG 4MATIC. Price is really good. 30k only. about 70k miles on it.
It's back home in Russia. Someone brought it for 40-45 grand and it ended up sitting 2 years in the garage. Car looks perfect, haven't driven it yet.
Any ideas on what to expect because of long period of just sitting and not being driven?
What about 4matic on E55? anyone knows about the reliability of it??

4matic really makes it perfect all year long car. But I think it's pretty rare, only about 150 cars came with it?

For the w126 benzos, which you can use a guideline for the w210. Are:
Before starting the car:

-Change all fluids /filters
-Check all hoses
-Make sure its filled with gas- and add that additive stuff to get water out of the gas tank.
-Charge battery

Our benz wasen't started it up for about 6 months because we went on vacation. The headgaskets dryd up and we had a leak there. So manybe for this car ? check on that. How about rust ? Russia is pretty cold ...

Btw i see your keeping the trend of two w210's very nice job !

In the end of 1999 Mercedes-Benz offered a new variant of the E 55 AMG. This car featured a four wheel drive system providing better traction on slippery surfaces. It featured the exact same engine as the E55 AMG but was slightly slower due to a heavier, more exhaustive driveline. Based on E 430 4MATIC, produced from 1999 untill 2002.

AMG made a limited number of 4matic E55's for Europe and the other parts of the world. They never made it for the state however. So either this car was imported and might be difficult to register OR it was a car built by RENNtech to be just like the 4matic E55 made over seas.

Either way it sounds like an interesting car. I would love some pics.

Well there was an E55 version made 2000-2002 I think.. I know it was the 5.5L and it had the 4matic transfer case!

A E50 did not have the same power as the C43 however. The E50 was an M119 5.0L motor and the weakest version of that car without full throttle fuel enrichment was 315 hp (as seen in 1993 and on M119 cars in the USA IE 500E 500SEL 500SL etc). The E50 versions were 347hp and 355 ft/lb tq.

Same idea though

or a shattered transfer case. I doubt it would withstand that stress for long at all.

It's been started and driven already, so I was wondering what damage could have happen to it. My main worry is tranny with engine coming second. I guess it's going to need tranny flush and if engine works fine and doesn't eat oil, should be good right?
My father in law saw it on our local auto market and called me. It's an 00.
in US it would be 01. Cos we title our cars accordingly to a build date.
E55 AMG 4matic - he said that it looks brand new, with all the options, vent seats, parktronic, NAVI - although Navi in Russia is useless exept for Moscow.

I like W210's E55s and I'm selling mine right now and moving back home, and we do get lot's of snow in winter, so having 4matic eliminates the need for another "winter" car. Plus the price is good. If I bring one myslef, it would cost me about 40-45 grand. May be even more for 4matic.

Pics - I'm going to go there within 3 weeks, so if they won't sell it by that time, I'll snap some, and If I end up buying it I'll post about how it feels in comparison to RWD 55. I actually have this obsessive image in my head of big whit snow field and all those HP being put to good fun use on it ;-) so hopefully I'll be able to get it.

If you meant E55 4matic W210 - yes, I heard that about 140 cars were made.

I saw about 4 or 5 of them on www.mobile.de, they appear and then dissapear, but you can catch them. Since E55s were sold here you won't be looking at some huge fees, but still I would expect about 3 to 7k depending on who does the work - to bring it in here.
Hey, you can buy the one I'm being offered for 30k! (it's 00 by the sticker and will be probably 01 by US rules) ;-) Cos I will only buy it If I come up with some good money anytime soon.
Why do you say that power in those is less than RWD E55 - supposed to be the same exact engine 345-355hp.
