01' E55 Concerns? Issues???
Hey guys, i passed up a deal on a 99' only to end up looking at a 01', black on black, loaded. 52K miles. Got them at $25K.
closing on the deal tonight, however, i am wondering, are there major issues with the W210 style i need to worry about or look for? I would like some REAL time experience. I have searched the web and found little info about it. People give car reviews in the general basis, but nothin specific to long time ownership. I can/should be able to buy an ext warranty for $2200, 4/48K mi.
So...any issues or things i should be concerned about an 01'? Mechanical, electrical, interior..etc.. Lay it on me guys!!!
Appreciate the feedback. Will be finalizing tonight and will post details tommorow!
Thanks
Aj

Very few problems
Good news: very little has gone wrong on my 2001 E55.
Bad news: The air meter likes to fail, it is a $400 part, but you can change it in 15 minutes. If your idle gets rough and the car bogs off the line and throws a CEL, replace it. That's about all that goes wrong. I have 22,000 miles and have added an HPS supercharger which has generated problems, but the stock setup was trouble free. Good Luck.

I have had my 02 for about a year....I have done some minor mods (K&N filter, lowering suspension, rear deck spoiler, roof spoiler, CLS style grill, chrome light rings, and 19's)....absolutely no problems at all. I drive my car pretty hard when I get the chance and it runs like a bat out of hell....I love my E55 more than my S600. The only thing that I have heard on consistant basis is the catalytic converter failing.....but it should be covered by the 8 year 100K mile emissions warranty.....get it and you will not regret it. I love that wolf in a sheep's clothing idea....good luck and let us know once you get it.

I had my 02 E55 for 3 yrs now and have had no major problems (knock on wood). The dealer did replace the instrument cluster at 40K b/c some of the LED readouts failed. At the 50K check up they also replaced the engine mounts because the left one was leaking. Other than that the car is a dream. Get it, you won't regret it.

No major issues on my 2002. It like my 98 E430 rattles a little in the headliner/sunroof. I had my instrument panel replaced under warranty because the numbers on the clock would fade in and out. My only complaint is too much roll/lean in turns. Suspension needs to be tighter.
