High mileage W210 E55 question

Found a 2000 E55 in great shape but has 68K on it. This is a 3rd car for daily driving and was wondering if I should go for a 01-02 with fewer miles. Price on the 00 is great...

What do you think? Can expect to go over 100K miles on these cars if taken care well.

Thanks!

It should go AT LEAST another 100K if it's been maintained well. My 2002 E55 had 50K on it when I traded it for the '06. It still rode and drove like new. If the price is right, enjoy.

.............I was expecting the car to be over 100K miles. The problem with Mercedes Benz cars is not their engines. 68K miles is by no meanms "high mileage" in a Mercedes of any kind. Electrinic gremlins might get you, but not the engine.

agreed. couldnt have said it better myself... The driveline is bulletproof. But the electrical gremlims tend to nickle and dime.. 2000 was the "transition" year for Daimler-Benz.. Major quality control issues (mostly ML class though)... I would pay more for a 01-02 if it were me. Or maybe a 99' which I believe was still a "Mercedes-Benz". Good luck

Thank you gentlemen...I can get that E55 for about

$25K...01-02 are about $5K more at least. What drew me to these models is the lack electronic guizmos compared to 03 and above. I know the engine and transmission are pretty bulletproof. What worried me was if I could drive it another 40K miles without too much worries.

Tough call...Thank you again for your input.

Imo

I have the first year E55 and have over 110k miles now. The engine and tranny have never been an issue. Also there aren't as many electronics in this car. I think we have had a couple small issues with ESP etc.

The main problem with this car is all the crappy plastic inside. Specifically the Dashboard and the plastic around the front seats.

Car is still running strong but expect to be paying some outrageous bills for maintenance(small stuff breaking).
