Dyno Novice
Never had a car on a Dyno before, but I would like to get a baseline for my stock E55 before playing with mods. I know I need to get the car into "dyno mode" by pushing a super-secret sequence of steering wheel buttons. Can anyone coach me through this? After that, what is the proper way to get the best pull? Do I set the tranny in Sport or Manual? I have read that you want to be in 4th gear and start the pull at about 2000 RPMS. Where do I let off? Is 5500 enough for these motors? If anyone can guide me through the whole process, I would appreciate it. Finally, has anyone ever spun a bearing or thrown a rod in their E55 by doing a "proper" dyno pull? The whole process seems a bit intimidating to me, probably because I've never done it yet.
Thanks All!!

Thanks!
Thanks Mike! Archives are amazing. Now, tranny in manual mode up to 4th gear at about 2000 rpms, throttle on to 5500 and back off, right??

throttle up to 6k just to make sure you squeeze everything out of her.
...and don't be worried, these motors are essentially bulletproof.
