Talking Removing front Cats on E55 & K&N filters

Hi all..Im a new participant here - this is a great forum - congratulations to those who established it all..

Ive been reading with interst all of the posts re mods to your E55's. Ive noted some discussion re K&N filters and the removal of the front cats on the exhaust.

Can i be confident that if I do either one or both of these mods that there will be gains - any thoughts / experiences....Cheers from down under

Hey

I am not the most knowledgable person about this subject but I will help you out a little bit.

The K&N filters will give you around 8-12 hp it just depends. Although for the money it is a good hp gain some people say that K&N's will let a lot of residue and dirt into your engine. Removing the cats I am really not sure maybe a few extra hp (4-5). Another way to gain hp is to wrap your airbox in heat resistent tape (this was discussed not to long ago and their are detailed instructions on how to do this, I beleive Pocholin did this) This will give you noticable gains (10 hp) Contact Stephens and Pocholin via Private Message or E-mail they are very knowledgable and can help you out.

Personally I would go with the K&N filter and the wrapping of the airbox which will give you about 20 extra hp I beleive.

Later,
