Question AutoLock, any good for E55?

Has anyone used the AutoLock with their E55? (or any E-Class). I am looking for a reasonable security device that prevents my baby from being stolen and I have heard too many bad things about "The Club".

At the moment, I have the glass engraved from the dealer. So far there have been no theft attemps, I don't live in a high risk area but will sometimes drive it to a big city (Toronto) and leave it parked for the day.

All comments welcome!

Not familiar with Autolock but in standard form the E Class at least the new ones are quite hard to steal considering the coded ignition key, alarm system and with Teleaid you can have the car tracked after filing a police report. Teleaid will also phone the dispatch if the alarm goes off. Face it anything is possible to steal if the thief is persistant and has the time. Most devices are deterents but do not actually prevent all thefts. Thats what insurance is for.

It's very difficult to steal modern mercedes by simply breaking the window and wiring the ignition. However, the people that do steal mercedes know what they're doing. They'll either a) tow the car and rip off the GPS tracking antenna or b) carjack you.

Either way, it renders the club/autolock useless.

My suggestion is to get Lojack as a backup, park in well lit areas with heavy pedestrian traffic and don't make any enemies

You'll be surprised by the number of crimes where the victim knows the criminal personally.

Oh Poopy,

I wish I had read your post Ben before ordering the AutoLock. Anyway, I got it yesterday, tried it and yup, it doesn't fit!! Now why don't they list MB E-Class as one of the cars it doesn't fit? They listed other cars including certain BMW's and all Porsche's.

I will send an email to someone at AutoLock and get them to update their list.

I guess I will keep it for my Neon. Yes, I also have a Neon :-)

Cheers and have a happy new year!
