E36 AMG W210 /// C43 AMG W202
Might sound like a silly question but would a set of E55 srings fit on a non AMG model without modifying in some way? Reason I ask is I need to replace the front springs on my W210 E36 AMG and due to their limited production (circa 180) wondered if I could simply opt for the springs from a E55.
I wondered whether spring tolerances/responses maybe different from model to model within the range due to engine weights being encountered for etc.
Again sorry for my apparent lack of mechanical knowledge but I'd be grateful for any education offered!

From what I know all the springs for the w210 models are interchangeable. Yes, the spring rates are different for each application. I currently have aftermarket springs on my E55 that was originally intended for a 6cyl w210. I am getting great performance from it. There is only 110 lbs weight difference between the V8 and V6 models. From my point of view, it shoudl not make that much difference. Why are you replacing your front springs?

H&R has two springs for the W210, one application is for a 6 cyl and another for an 8 cyl. I was not aware of an E55 specific app.
I will post some results when the sc is in.

Hi Walir
The reason I am looking into changing the springs is for sometime now the drivers side wheel/tyre fouls the arch. This has been accentuated since I have had a different model tyre put on the front (same/correct sizes as OEM running on stock AMG monoblocks).
Looking at the car, I swear that the drivers side rides a little lower and I wondered if it could simply be a sagging spring that has aged (car has 69K on)? So I though a new set of springs may remedy this? The only other issue I could think of is alignment, however the vehicle tracks arrow straight and isn't scrubbing the tyres in any unusual way. It only hits the arch on very bad back roads or at very high speed on Motorways when one encounters a join or imperfection in the road surface.
Do you have any additional thoughts though?
