impresssion of LS430/Ultra Luxury Version
Hi all,
Just got back from helping father-in-law with a CPO 2003 LS430 with ULTRA LUXURY PACKAGE...it only had 26k miles, and man...it is soooo nice. Suede roof, massager and reclining back seat, super soft smooth leather in the entire car(vs. cheap plastic in many BMW and MBs), adjustable suspension, etc...
Overall, it is more of a comfortable cruiser vs. the E55 and obviously the direct comparison would be an S-class. When I compare it to the S500, however, I think it would be a very difficult to pass on the Ultra Luxury. My biggest complaint about the S-class is that other than the Designo or the S600 series, the interior is very sub-par for the money/status. The S600's are GREAT deals, but I would be too scared to buy without a long-term warranty from MB. From I hear, most of the after-market warranty have too many exclusions for the V12 twin-turbo.
Just food for thoughts...and Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there.
Sorry for digressing...my main point today is that driving the LS430 today was a major upside surprise.
p.s. According to JD Powers, 03 LS were the most reliable car for 3 yr track record - average of less than 1 problem during the entire three years of initial ownership.

The Lexuses are really nice, but chronically underpowered. The fastest lexus you can buy is an IS 350 sport with 306 HP. Of course the bigger sedans have v8s and have more torque but their HP ratings are nowhere near German spec.

2000 W210 E55// 2007 Toyota Tacoma X-Runner
I can't understand how you would even compare any lexus in the 99-02 range with a W210 E55? Wow...they are two totally different cars...not to mention, stock for stock the E55 will destroy a 02 Lexus GS 430 in EVERY aspect, I won't even start comparing the W211 E55/63. I think you should compare that car to a W210 E430....the S class is much bigger, I'm sure they a super reliable like most Japaneese cars..so I ask myself, would I trade in my E55 for a lexus GS/LS 430? Not a chance on this planet!..just my $.02

yo - not talking about replacing 2001 E55 with the 03 LS430...it was to complement it. my observation was how nice it was, both for comfort and also interior build quality. even if comparing it to S-class, i think the LS drove/felt better. lastly, the comparison could be made with 05 E500 also as it's around the same price...but i think the Lexus still wins on build quality. just thinking out aloud.
