E55 Prices
Funny you should mention that. I have had Police drive by me and look at the car (like WOW!) and than look to see who is driving it. Pretty funny but it makes my day.
i've driven W211 non AMGs, and while they certainly look more modern inside & out, i got a feeling that they were not as solidly built nor drive as solid as my W210, and some of the interior material outright looked cheap.

You're right.... The interior feels cheap... the buttons, the steering wheel, the LCD lights, the wood.... almost everything.
In the inside, I only love the front seats.... it hugs you better and more comfortable... plus the dynamic seat and massage features really spoil me.
What I like about W211 is only the design (inside out), the engine (hopefully it won't give me any troubles) and like I said above, the seat.
Zoink,
Yep, it's practically sold. The buyer is from Canada and he's flying down next
weekend to pick it up. Got much more than I originally asked for.
Someone outbid me on an ebay auction for '01 E55. Oh well, I'm sure
there's bound to be one out there.

Oh well.... I do miss her. And I will miss the C pretty soon

So... I may look for another car (bigger one this time
) for my wife soon. Any suggestion? Thinking of X5, Q7, R-class, 535xi wagon
... tempted w/ S4 Avant but it would mean I got the same size again

after seeing many cars ranging from E55's to S320(W140) and older 540i's, i ended up deciding on a 2002 540i Sport w/ 70k miles - 2nd owner. the car was about an 8 and needed a little TLC w/ dentless removal, a good buff, and some touch ups on the front of hood from rock chips. other than that, the car is pretty clean in/out. the other benefit was the car had extended warranty good for another 8 months and 20k miles that included most items(except the pixel on instrument cluster, about $850).
i still can't believe the price of the 2000-2002 E55's. it's sad that i had to pay more for the 540i sport, but oh well...as long as the wife is happy.
it seems like W211 E55s lose value way faster than regular W211s. why is that..?
i think 2004 MSRP for E500's were about $65k and i'm seeing them for about $30k now, so about 53% off.
for 2004 E55's, i'm guessing MSRP ranged from $90k to $100k?
so if they're selling for $40 to $50k...isn't that about the same % off?
my gut feel is that BMW M's were owned by die-hards/enthusiasts where the MB AMGs often have business execs who just want a new sporty car. therefore, for used cars the enthusiasts willing to pay up get the BMWs while the business execs pony up for new ones...thus the lousy resale.
p.s. btw, isn't that the same reason why the BMW 7-series and MB V12's have such lousy resale vs the 5-series and the V8's, respectively?
We drove a 540 before we bought the E55 and it was a nice car, but in our case not well kept. I would have been happy with either.
haha, you're right. for 18k you can't really get anything close to E55.
Not everyone, I know, and some drive their cars all year long, blah blah blah, I know, but all I need to find is ONE...!
