on a 99 E320, they will, but the up travel induced by pavement will cause the
wheel arch to contact the tire. you can try the narrowest tire possible, plus
a little fender lip rolling, and larger spring pads.
i'm using ET31 from an E55, with 245/40-18 and #3 pad in front and I get a little
tire/fender action every two weeks or so.

The good news is that you already have the fender rolled from factory, and that your OEM pads are #3 on all four corners. The bad news is that OEM ET is 31MM. Though 30MM will bring the rim out +1MM, a 255 will bring it back in -5MM (255-OEM245/2) = -4MM final. Probably, just enough to rub that suspension nut. Solution: 245/40/18. Just my two cents

thx guys! u 2 are super knowledable, just the answers i was looking for.
sounds like R230 SL55 rims DO FIT on our cars (i'm guessing i'll need new lugs) but the 255 tire might rub.
btw these are rims i'm talking about, OEM R230 SL55 wheels.

there is a similiar design from earlier model....and the specs might lend for a
better 210 fit. i've not examined the specs for them, however.
you can try looking for this older rim on Tirerack....or this one below....

...to change pages, change that last number digit e.g....from merc6 to merc5 etc
