Talking Nicely cared for 2002 E55

I am new to the board and have my eye on a 2002 E55 with 63K. Car is immaculately clean except for slight curb rash on the rims. The guy is asking $30K for the car. He is firm on the price, is he asking too much.

It looks and drives great with all appropriate maintenance done. The harmonic balancer pulley has not been replaced and it will need new tires soon. It also vibrates on deceleration from 60mph. I have read that the exhaust may need to be de-tensioned to cure the vibration The motor mounts are still good so that isn't the cause of the vibration.

Any thoughts about prices and the vibration? I live in the SF bay area.

Well I got my 2002 E55 for 21,500, plus taxes/registeration= 23,700. My car also was very clean (still is) and also suffered from very small curb rash on one of the rims. It had 56k mileage. I believe I got a VERY good price, the car was located in San Diego... FULLY LOADED! Yep... my car suffers from vibration too during idle and when not pressing the accelerator, sudden vibration... I checked the engine mounts, they seemed to be fine. I think my exhaust may need to be de-tensioned, whatever that is.

PS. Don't buy that one. He's asking WAY too much. Check out the ones in the LA area.

E55 210
I hate to say it, but 30,000 is kinda high for a 210 at 63k.....
I love my 2001 e55 and was once in your shoes. I bought my beast in 2005 with only 16k miles on it. I paid 38,000 w/4 year warranty-. Looking back now - though no regrets, I definetly feel that I over paid.

Recently I have been debating to sell my baby. I barely drive the e55 now because I work in the city and recently picked up an Audi RS6.

Currently my e55 has only 26k on the speedometer (yes I know im just wasting it letting it sit in the garage) I would be extremely lucky if I could get 30k for mine. - food for thought

Noc and Peter - those are great used car buying prices - but makes me feel bad that I will not get a better price on trading or selling my 2002.

knetchea, check w/ ob1kenobi.... he lives in the Bay Area also and just bought an '01 designo. Not sure about the price and mileage.... but the condition looks pristine.

BTW, I sold my '01 w/ 73K about 3-4 months ago for $21K. And yes, I agree w/ others, it seems $30K seems high.... you should be able to get one at ~$23K.

So it seems $30K is way too high then. Sounds like low to mid 20's is a better price. Anyone wanting to part with their baby for a more reasonable price and lives in the bay area . I am looking for one preferably with Navigation and Ventilated Seats.

Thanks for your help.

Just check with dealer and they still haven't sold it yet. I think you can get $23,000 for it because it was advertise in the Autotrader & cars.com for $24,000 3 month ago.

I was going to buy this one at asking price but the saleman was being a jerk off so I say screw him! Got my 2002 a few day later $23,800 same mile, 1 owner, mint condition than the 2001. Bought it at asking price, i could of negotiate for a better price but i didn't, that why he offer to shipped it for free from IL to WA

i'M GLAD i WALKED AWAY FROM THE 2001

$30K? Way too much money.
High mileage even.

Look around some more. If you don't care so much as to where the car
is look at www.luxuryimportsonline.com
Although this one doesn't have navigation, I think you can still get
the price down a bit.

BTW, I saw this one personally and it is what the seller says it is.

good luck.

OK, so I was able to find another E55 in SoCal. 2002 with 55K. Car is located in Yorba Linda.

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...eadExists=true

I feel kind of strange buying from a used car dealer due to lack of service history. However, the car is a one owner vehicle purchased from Mercedes Financial as a lease return. Carfax shows some services from 30K on, but nothing before that.

Anyone have any comments.

PS you guys have been very helpful. I hope to get my new ride soon.

And the one you initially considered seem to have the price dropped... LOL

Yes, the original car did drop his price, but not enough for my comfort level.

I'll check into these listings.

No Problem... Do what you think is best! If you really want ventilated seats, don't buy that one... go ahead and shop around. I wish you the best of luck... if ya need help just post.

What is the difference between Tectite Gray and Black Opal Metallic? They both look the same. The car in Yorba Linda has Black Opal vent seats, Nav, but 55K miles.

The other 2002 has 37K miles and is gray. They look almost the same.

OK who's got the vented seats and do they work well?

Fellas I think we are on the home stretch.

Mine is a 2001 with vented seats and it worked well for me especially during
that mini-heatwave we had in the bay area. I drove the car to church and let
it sit under the blaring sun and when we came back the seats were like
it's been in an oven. Press the vent buttons and voila! it cooled it in no
time at all.

(ZOINK: I passed by your wife's studio Sunday noon'ish and I saw your W211 beast sitting in the parking lot. I should've rang you so we can have the
photo session.)

After I backed out from buying Zoink's W210 E55, I saw this posted on
craigslist for $30.9k. My initial reaction was, the owner must not have
been motivated to sell it.
It's been in the market for close to 3 months now. If the trend continues
he's gonna drop the price again in about 1 month if he hasn't sold it.

good luck!

I agree.

Saw one at MB of Oakland when I was in the market but they won't
budge on their asking.
