Car & Driver Review of E55

Good review by Car & Driver, December 2002 issue. 0-60 @ 4.5 sec. Estimated base price: $88,000. OUCH!!

Now that's more like it. Any more details? Handling? Brakes? Double ouch on that price.

Yah. just saw that too. But it is a "preview" not a test so the performance is estimated. Will have to wait for the full roadtest (hopefully as part of a comparo...)

By the way, the author made some ridiculous explanation of why the E55 has less power than the SL55, but confirmed that it makes the same amount of torque!! Since the torque figures are the same (516 lb/ft from 2560 to 4500 rpm) is it not a physical impossibility for the hp figures to be different, because hp is a direct function of torque versus RPM?? Still further proof that the two engines are exactly the same??
