Question Service A done today, question about the oil

Hello everyone,

I brought my car in today for an oil change today. I have 9990 miles and 3000 miles to go for A service. My service advisor decided to save me $80.00 and do the A service today. After it was all done, I read through the service order and noticed the dealer used Pennzoil European formula synthetic oil, 5W40. I thought Mobil One is the recommended oil for AMG and will Pennzoil be substandard?

Also how often should I change my oil? I read somewhere I should do it every 5000 miles. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

John

There are a few manufacture and viscosities of oil that can be used per the specifications book. I personally change my oil and filter every 5000 miles. Works out pretty good as every other change is on the dealer per the FSS services.

My dealer used Mobil-1, however, I was at an open house at another dealer tonight and they are using Castrol SynTec synthetic oil for FSS cars.

Personnally I believe in the new technology and the recommended FSS intervals. That long standing oil change interval of 3k or 5k maybe old school technology.

Remember Mobil-1 is a Sponsor.
